For months now the Filipino-Chinese community had been hearing spreading murmurs of spreading criminality against Filipino-Chinese citizens as well as Chinese nationals in the Philippines, then suddenly this recent month the news of brazen kidnappings burst out into the open.

This was preceded recently by the shocking news of three Filipino nationals arrested on suspicion of espionage in China.

However, this development should not come as a surprise after the Philippine government through several of its political and security branches had for two years been conducting a hybrid information warfare “witch hunt” in support of a semi-declared campaign to “exact a reputational cost to China” initiated by the U.S. in a complex coordinated operation that includes maritime transparency “assertive transparency” operation with operations in the political and security institutions against targets that can be associated with Chinese presence in the Philippines. – Let us take a quick two year review:

Simultaneous initiatives were undertaken to raise and stir up “PLA sleepers”, “Chinese espionage activities”, “spy networks”, ultimately raising issues against Vice President Sara Duterte and eventually leading to the “extraordinary rendition” of President Duterte to the Hague.
