
Former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. topped the survey of The Manila Times on the 2022 presidential candidates.
In the survey, conducted from October 26 to November 2, the respondents were asked, “If the elections were to be held today, whom will you vote for president?”
Sixty-eight percent replied they would vote for Marcos.
He was far ahead of second placer Vice President Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo who got 10.8 percent.
Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso was third (7.9 percent), followed by Senators Emmanuel “Manny” Pacquiao (7.2 percent) and Panfilo “Ping” Lacson (2.5 percent).

The survey showed that more people, at 2 percent, would rather “abstain” from picking from the list than choosing Sen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa (1.5 percent).
Marcos was the top preference across all areas, with 60.8 percent in Luzon, 64.4 percent in the Visayas and 78.8 percent in Mindanao.
In Luzon, Marcos was followed by Pacquiao at 22.6 percent; Lacson, 16.4 percent; Robredo, 14.8 percent; Domagoso, 12.4 percent; and dela Rosa, 2.6 percent, with the remaining 4.4 percent abstaining.

In the Visayas, Robredo was second at 13.6 percent, followed by Pacquiao and Domagoso at 8.2 and 7.4 percent, respectively, Lacson at 4 percent and dela Rosa at 1 percent.

In Mindanao, Pacquiao was second with 10.4 percent share, followed by Robredo and Domagoso at 4 percent each, Lacson, 1.6 percent and dela Rosa, 1 percent.
The survey polled 1,500 registered voters all over the country.
Half of the respondents were male, with 13.8 percent of respondents in the age group of 18 to 24 years old; 20.7 percent for 25 to 34 years old; 22.7 percent for 35 to 44 years old; 16.3 percent for 45 to 54 years old; 17.9 percent for 55 to 64 years old; and 8.6 percent for 65 years and older.
The survey was a combination of face-to-face and assisted phone interviews. It had a margin of error of ยฑ3 percent.

The survey was held during the time the issue over Marcos’ collegiate credentials from Oxford University resurfaced
This was also the time when Robredo expressed her opinion on vote-buying, suggesting that people should accept the money but should vote based on who their conscience dictates and not because of “utang na loob (debt of prime obligation).”
On November 2, the last day of the survey, a case was filed with the Commission on Elections (Comelec) seeking the cancellation of Marcos’ certificate of candidacy on grounds of his conviction by the Regional Trial Court of Quezon City for not filing income tax returns.

Supporters of Marcos and Robredo have been holding motorcades recently in various parts of the country, with Robredo visiting various provinces in Bicol and Marcos in Cebu province.
Domagoso visited Cebu, Batangas and Quezon with his running mate, Dr. Willie Ong.
Marcos also topped a recent survey conducted by Publicus Asia with 49.3 percent, ahead by 28 percent over Robredo.
Domagoso was at 8.8 percent, Lacson at 2.9 percent, Pacquiao at 2. 8 percent, dela Rosa at 1.9 percent, former presidential spokesman Ernesto Abella at 0.6 percent, the undecided at 8.6 percent and others at 1.7 percent.
