The Asian Century Philippines Strategic Studies Institute (ACPSSII) with the United Filipino Commuters and Consumers (UFCC) and other peace advocacy organizations under the umbrella of SAGIP PILIPINAS, is launching the 474.3 km. โAnti-War, Anti-EDCA Peace Caravanโ to pay homage to our National Heroes who fought Western Imperialism to bring durable peace to our lands and seas.
The Anti-War Caravan first stop is the Barasoain Church where the Malolos Republic on June 2, 1899 declared its offensive on the United States of America for its invasion and occupation of the country. It will proceed to Cabanatuan, Nueva Ecija, to lay flowers at t he monument of General Antonia Luna who led the fight against the Americans.
The final stop is Tuguegarao, Cagayan Province, to present a Plaque honoring Cagayan Province Governor Manuel Noveno Mamba, M.D. for his exemplary appreciation of the global geopolitical crisis and the peril of hosting the U.S. military bases within his province which will be a magnet for destruction of death in a conflict that serves only U.S. war profiteering interests.
After the caravan in Luzon, the SAGIP PILPINAS will proceed to conduct Anti-War, Anti-EDCA Peace Caravans in the Visayas and Mindanao with peace advocates and organizations in the regions. We intend to be in Iloilo at the end of June and in Mindanao in the beginning of July.
Thereafter, the movement in cooperation with leading lights in the peace movement will file a petition to reverse the patently erroneous EDCA ruling of the dubious Sereno Supreme Court, as to its โconstitutionalityโ.
We invite the MEDIA and the general public to join us at 10am, Thursday, June 1, 2023 for the anti-War, anti-EDCA, anti-Bases forum receding the take-off from Manila to the long journey through Malolos, Bulacan, to Cabanatuan, Nueva Ecija and Isabela, and finally on to Tuguegarao, Cagayan Province, todayโs โMecca of Philippine Peaceโ.
We enjoin the whole nation to pray for the success of this movement especially in enlightening our national and local public officials to prioritize on matters pertaining to the delivery of public services, food on the table for the masses, and the overall development of our country, and not engaged in self-serving politics and destructive foreign policy.
That said, we support the position of Vice President Sara Duterte against governance โpoisoned by political toxicity or undermined by execrable political powerplay.”
